Development Log – Survival RPG
Greetings, fellow adventurers!
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve begun working on a new project – a Survival RPG set in the fascinating world of the Middle Ages. As a passionate gamer and developer, I’ve always been drawn to the rich history and immersive possibilities of this era.
Core Mechanics: The Foundation
Currently, I’m knee-deep in crafting the essential core mechanics that will bring this game to life. These include:
- Player Movement: Navigating the medieval landscape is crucial, and I’m implementing a smooth and responsive movement system that allows players to explore the world with ease.
- Save System: Ensuring that players can preserve their progress is vital. I’m developing a robust save system that safeguards their hard-earned achievements and allows them to continue their journey seamlessly.
- Interaction System: Interacting with the environment and NPCs (non-playable characters) is at the heart of any RPG. I’m building an intuitive interaction system that enables players to engage with the world in meaningful ways.
- Attribute System: Attributes define a character’s strengths and weaknesses. I’m creating a comprehensive attribute system that allows for diverse character builds and playstyles.
- Inventory: Managing resources and equipment is essential for survival. I’m designing an inventory system that provides players with a clear and organized way to handle their belongings.
Progress and Plans
I’ve laid the groundwork for four of these core systems and am steadily expanding the project each day. It’s an exciting challenge to bring these mechanics together and create a cohesive gameplay experience.
To gather valuable feedback and ensure a solid foundation, I’m aiming to release a small playtest within the month. This will allow me to identify any areas that need improvement and ensure that the game is both enjoyable and engaging.
